Year 3 had a very exciting trip to High Ashurst, the Surrey Outdoor Learning and Development Centre.
The children learnt how to be a cartographer, creating their own desert island maps. They then learnt how to use the compass to find North and then used their skills to orientate themselves, using the maps to find different stations.
Next, they enjoyed a timeline activity and all went on a scavenger hunt for food and useful resources around the woodland area. They made a Stone Age Mummy based on Otzi the Ice Man out of what they could find.
Finally, the children had great fun taking turns at sucker archery. They also enjoyed learning fire lighting skills, practising with real flint and steel and a bow drill demonstration.
