Outdoor Learning

Outdoor learning is an integral part of Nursery life at Micklefield.  Children have the time, space and freedom to play while immersed in nature, which supports their physical, social and emotional development.

Fresh-air play encourages resilience, creativity and problem solving, while helping children build confidence and independence.  Regular visits to our 5 acre school playing fields provide opportunities for exploration and reflection in a natural setting.

Our large and stimulating outdoor space includes sand and water play, a pirate ship, elevated areas and natural planting - all designed to spark imagination.  Children can enjoy the mud kitchen, join our Green Fingers club and grow produce in our Nature Haven Garden allotment, which is often cooked and shared as part of our 'field to fork' approach.
