As part of our Black History Month curriculum, Micklefield children were treated to a visit from Kwame from African Activities. Kwame shared the culture and traditions of his native Ghana with a fantastic drumming workshop, which all the children from Rising 4’s through to Year 6 had the chance to enjoy over the course of the day. Every child had an authentic drum of their own for their workshop and had a brilliant time learning and playing some authentic African songs. It was lovely to see the school gym turned into a corner of West Africa for the day and many of the children seemed truly inspired by the experience. Thank you to Friends of Micklefield for their contribution towards the cost of Kwame’s visit.
