Year 6 Visit Thorpe Park for STEAM Event

Year 6 were treated to a special STEAM event at Thorpe Park hosted by ACS Partnerships Team. The children received a ‘gameification card’ which required stamps for every workshop or activity they completed. The more stamps they collected, the more rides they were able to access!

It was an exhilarating day, from human aviation using a jet pack, watching a Chinook land in the car park to mental health talks by two Fulham football players, followed by an hilarious encounter with Titan the Robot before engaging in a human percussion workshop by the Director of West End show, STOMP. Just when we thought our hearts couldn’t take anymore adrenaline, the children were invited to have a ride on the tallest, fastest, weightless rollercoaster in the UK – Hyperia! Thanks to the company, Catapult, the children were able to take part in cutting edge technology whereby their heart rates would be monitored while on the rollercoaster.

The event highlighted the importance of creativity in education, showcasing the power of interdisciplinary learning while inspiring our children with fun and engaging hands-on activities.
