Baby Ducklings Arrive at Micklefield Nursery

Nursery had some very special visitors this week. On Monday, five duck eggs arrived in an incubator. Our Nursery children have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of some very special guests – ducklings! The children were busy quietly checking the duck eggs and on Tuesday afternoon were thrilled to see that one of the eggs was showing signs it may be starting to hatch.
On Wednesday morning, the first duckling hatched, followed by three more over the course of the day, with the final duckling hatching on Thursday morning. The children have all been enjoying recording the ducklings journey, using small handheld recorders. It has been amazing to see how quickly they have grown in only one day.
Next, the children will be teaching the ducklings to swim in a paddling pool. We look forward to sharing more news on our ducklings over the coming week.
