On Wednesday of Theme Week, The Big Wheel Theatre Company visited and delivered an interactive and inclusive workshop for our Upper School children. The performance looked at school travel plans, our school transport choices and how they affect our health and the environment. The show covered three key areas:
- Global warming: How our transport choices affect the world
- Local Impact: The effects of traffic, air pollution and congestion in our local area
- Sustainable Travel: Why walking, cycling and scooting are almost always the best way to get around and how to do this safely
The workshop featured a fun scientific demonstration on the effects of global warming, a gameshow quiz, funny adverts and an interactive map of the local area highlighting air pollution issues. With music, silly wigs, props and costumes, the exciting and educational workshop is one which I am sure the students will remember for a long time.
The workshops ended with a dramatic story titled "How to Train Your Pollutant" where the students took on various roles to help save Reigate from pollution.
