3L PSHE and Class Assembly
Back
In PSHE, Year 3 have been thinking about:
- What makes each of us unique and special
- That there are a range of body types
- That physical characteristics do not tell us about the whole person
- Avoiding making assumptions about what a person can do based on their appearance or abilities
- Being able to accept myself and celebrate diversity – appreciating our differences as individuals
Year 3 explored all these ideas when reading the book Shapesville by Andy Mills and Becky Osborn. They also thought about how these important themes in the book apply to Micklefield. 3L children changed the book's name from Shapesville to Micklefieldville and added all of 3L into the story. In the book Shapesville, the characters are different 2D shapes. 3L all chose a different 2D shape to represent each of them and wrote their own personal verses, thinking about what made them unique and special. They put it all together to create a new book called Micklefieldville!
3L shared their version of the story in their class assembly on Tuesday. They also spoke about the importance of looking after our mental health and different strategies to support wellbeing. We are lucky at Micklefield because we have no outsiders – everyone is welcome and included. We celebrate diversity and respect each other. At Micklefield we are one big supportive family.
Miss Lloyd was extremely proud of them all - an amazing team effort!
