Year 1 Visit St Marks Church

On Wednesday, Year 1 visited St. Mark's Church as they have been learning all about Christianity in RE. For many of the children it was their first time inside a church, making the experience particularly interesting. The focus was on looking at the beautiful stained-glass windows and seeing if they recognised any stories from The Bible.

Father Martin explained about the history of the church which was built in Victorian times.  The children were excited to learn that the pews they sat on were the original ones from 160 years ago. It was exciting for the children to imagine themselves sitting where Victorian children had once sat.  Father Martin played the organ, demonstrating how it can be played softly or loudly.

The children behaved with respect and the trip provoked some enthusiastic classroom discussions.
