Reception Body Mapping Fun

Reception children became mini scientists and artists this week as they took part in a fun and collaborative body-mapping activity in the playground.

Working in pairs, one child carefully lay still while their partner drew around their body using chalk. The children then worked together to identify and label different body parts, developing their understanding of how their bodies work and what makes each of us unique.

This engaging activity supported a range of Early Years learning areas, including communication and language, personal, social and emotional development and understanding the world. As they talked, listened, collaborated and explored new vocabulary, the children strengthened their teamwork skills while building confidence and curiosity about themselves and others.

The completed body outlines sparked lots of discussion and excitement, helping the children celebrate their similarities and differences in a creative and meaningful way.
