We are delighted to introduce a new sporting award for children in Lower School: Mrs Chesterton's Champ.
This special certificate celebrates a pupil in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2 who shows an amazing attitude, kindness and effort in PE. Rather than recognising the strongest performer or the child who scores the most goals, this award celebrates the values that help children thrive both in sport and beyond.
To be a Mrs Chesterton's Champ, children demonstrate:
- Teamwork
You work well with others, encourage your teammates and are a great team player.
- Respect
You show respect to everyone, listen carefully, follow instructions and look after our equipment and learning spaces.
- Confidence
You give things a go, believe in yourself and are not afraid to try new challenges.
- Perseverance
You keep trying, even when things are difficult. You never give up!
At Micklefield, we believe sport is about so much more than winning. It's not about being the best... it's about being your best. We want every child to have fun, be kind, work together, try their best and feel proud of their achievements.
Be sure to keep an eye on the Awards section of our weekly newsletter, where we will announce our Mrs Chesterton's Champ winners throughout the year.
Happy playing! At Micklefield, we strive to inspire a lifelong love of sport, helping every child to develop confidence, resilience and a positive attitude towards being active. Through encouragement, teamwork and effort, we hope to nurture a love of sport that lasts a lifetime.
