House Assemblies Celebrate Year 6 Memories

Today, the whole school came together for the final House Assemblies of the academic year – a truly special moment in the Micklefield calendar.

All our Year 6 pupils shared heartfelt reflections on their time at school, speaking with great warmth about the many experiences that have shaped their journey. Highlights included school trips, Art and DT projects, theme weeks, sports fixtures, maths challenges, escape room activities and residential trips in Years 4, 5 (the big swing, kayaking) and 6 (chocolate factory, aqaurium, beach, theme park, eating snails). For many, standout moments were the production of Peter Pan, the Year 6 French Trip, and visits to theme parks (Thorpe Park and Bagatelle). It was especially touching to hear memories reaching all the way back to their Nursery days – so many memories that will stay with me.

Their words of advice were both thoughtful and inspiring: “mistakes make you better,” “give everything a go,” and “time has flown by.” When asked to describe Micklefield, pupils spoke of fun, adventure, excitement and friendship – a wonderful reflection of school life. They also expressed their thanks to their teachers for making their time here so memorable.

Staff shared equally warm sentiments, reflecting on how much the Year 6 pupils have grown in confidence and maturity. They spoke with pride about all they have achieved across their time at school and how well prepared they are for the next stage of their educational journey.

The assemblies were filled with fantastic house spirit, with cheers for Waterlow, Fonteyn, Cranston and Somers – and a big three cheers for all our houses!

This morning also marked a special moment for Mr Baguley, as his last House Assembly at Micklefield. He reflected fondly on his many proud memories over the past 20 years in Cranston House and offered words of encouragement for the future: to keep working hard and earning those house points!

It was a memorable and meaningful way to celebrate the end of the year together.
