On Monday, it was wonderful to come together as a whole school community for our School Council End-of-Year Assembly, celebrating a year filled with initiative, responsibility and positive impact.
Our School Council have played an integral role in school life this year, leading and supporting a wide range of initiatives. From introducing the walking bus and improving our bike storage, to contributing ideas for the trim trail and ensuring every classroom benefits from wellbeing plants, their efforts have made a tangible difference across the school.
They have also demonstrated a strong commitment to charity and community. This year, they raised £55.70 for Sea Change, an impressive £898.55 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and supported donations for Stripey Stork. Alongside this, the council have taken on the important role of energy monitors, helping to reduce our environmental impact by encouraging everyone to switch off lights and interactive whiteboards when not in use.
A particular highlight has been our Ocean Day ‘Save a Bottle from the Sea’ campaign. We are incredibly proud to share that, as a school, we have saved 560 bottles - repurposing them and preventing them from going to recycling.
Congratulations to our WWF Dolphin Prize winners:
Reception Butterflies – 72 bottles (6 per child)
Reception Bees – 68 bottles (5 per child)
Year 2 – 71 bottles (4 per child)
We also celebrated three individual pupils who each collected the highest number of bottles - an outstanding achievement.
Well done to everyone across the school for supporting this fantastic initiative and embracing such an important environmental message.
Finally, a heartfelt thank you to Mrs Easton for her dedication in leading the School Council. Her passion and commitment have been the driving force behind so many of this year’s successful initiatives.
