On Wednesday, our Year 5 and 6 boys hosted Lingfield College for a set of cricket fixtures, enjoying a sunny afternoon of excellent play.
The A team won the toss and chose to field, producing a disciplined bowling performance to restrict Lingfield to 74–7 from their 20 overs, with strong work in the field including multiple wickets, catches and stumpings. Micklefield’s reply started briskly but slipped under pressure before some calm, sensible batting and good running between the wickets guided the team to a well-earned five-wicket victory.
The B team also delivered an impressive performance in a hardball pairs match. Bowling superbly, they took 14 wickets to keep Lingfield to just 5. Confident batting then saw Micklefield reach 78, securing a convincing win by 73 runs.
The C team completed a clean sweep with another excellent result. Strong batting helped set a total of 110, while a consistent team bowling effort, including two wickets, restricted Lingfield to 55, giving Micklefield a 55-run victory.
Well played to all the boys for a fantastic afternoon of cricket.
Unfortunately the girls matches were cancelled on Wedsnesday due to bad weather at Lingfield.
