Congratulations to all the children in Years 3 and 4 for their fantastic performances of The Blue Crystal this week. After two dress rehearsals and two brilliant evening shows, the pupils truly rose to the occasion. Their acting, dancing and singing were superb, and the whole school has been humming the catchy tunes all week.
The Blue Crystal is a sci‑fi musical set 1,000 years in the future. With Earth’s natural resources depleted, all life depends on the mysterious Blue Crystal, which powers a giant computer system. When the crystal is stolen by the Zarcons - a warrior race from a distant, dying planet - Captain Tor is called upon to retrieve it and save humanity from extinction.
Audiences were treated to robots, clones, a hologram newsreader and plenty of intergalactic drama. Captain Tor bravely battles the alien invaders until he encounters the Zarcon princess and faces an unexpected dilemma. Could cooperation between their worlds be the key to saving both planets?
RGS Headmaster, Mr Fenton, summed up the production beautifully:
“The Micklefield production of The Blue Crystal was quite simply outstanding. To see them grace the stage with such composure and confidence was a joy. They captured the audience with their genuine warmth. There was a real sense that they were not just performing, but sharing something uplifting, and the result was a room full of smiling faces and happy families.
Their poise, talent and infectious enthusiasm made it a highlight of the term for me and spoke volumes about both the quality of support they have received from the teachers and the help they have been given by parents. To step onto a stage, into the spotlight and shine so brightly is no small thing; it is a testament to their confidence, their enjoyment of performing, and the culture of encouragement and excellence that clearly sits behind them at Micklefield. I loved it.”
A huge well done to all the children and staff involved for bringing this imaginative story to life with such energy and creativity. It was truly a performance to remember.
