Year 5 Extension Group - Explore Angles in Regular Polygons
Our Year 5 extension mathematicians have been diving deep into the world of regular polygons. They began by discovering how to calculate the total number of degrees inside any regular polygon by cleverly splitting the shape into triangles. From there, they worked out the size of each interior angle and then took on the challenge of drawing their own accurate regular polygons using protractors.
Today, they pushed their learning even further by exploring interior and exterior angles, investigating how knowing one helps us calculate the other. The room was full of focus, determination, and some brilliantly precise shapes. Even when things didn’t go quite to plan, they showed fantastic persistence and problem‑solving.
A brilliant effort all round - well done, Year 5
